Hear your coding agent.
Answer it by voice.
Start a task, go do something else. When Claude Code or Codex finishes, you hear what it did, in a sentence or two. Hold fn to answer.
Your agent finishes.
You hear about it.
Hand off a fix and go back to what you were doing. When the turn ends, Wisper Back reads it out. Hold fn to answer.
Works with Claude Code, Codex and T3 Code.
Thanks, ship it before the demo.
Not just “done”
A bell tells you it stopped. Wisper Back tells you what happened: the result first, then what changed, whether tests passed, and what it needs from you. The words flow in the notch, so you can glance up instead of reading a screen of markdown.
In an agent app, double-tap fn to turn read-back on or off.
Reply from anywhere
After it speaks, hold fn and talk. Your reply goes to that agent’s chat, even if you’re in another app.
Prompts that keep code exact
Dictating to Codex, Claude or ChatGPT, file names, paths, flags and code names land in backticks. Say “the login fix is in main dot swift” and the prompt reads: The login fix is in main.swift.
In a terminal, you get exactly what you said, on one line.
Set up in one switch
Install Wisper Back
Download it and open it once.
Turn on your agent
Settings → Agents → choose Claude Code, Codex, or both. Wisper Back adds a Stop hook to
~/.claude/settings.jsonor a notify entry to~/.codex/config.toml. An existing Codex notify keeps working.Finish a turn
You’ll hear it. Turning the switch off removes only Wisper Back’s own lines.
Supported agents
- Claude Code
- Reads finished turns, voice replies
- Codex
- Reads finished turns, voice replies
- Where they run
- Terminal, T3 Code, Cursor’s terminal, the Codex app
- Any other app
- Dictation, with code-aware style
Rather build it yourself?
If a sound or a fixed phrase is enough, a Stop hook with afplay or say costs nothing and takes a minute. Our guide walks through it: How to make Claude Code talk. Wisper Back is for when you want to hear what the turn actually did.
Questions
Does it send my code anywhere?
It reads the agent’s final message for the turn, not your repository. That message is sent to be shortened and spoken, and isn’t stored on our servers.
Does it work with Cursor?
Dictation works in Cursor like in any app. Claude Code and Codex running inside Cursor are read back; Cursor’s own agent isn’t yet.
Does it work offline?
Read-back needs a connection, because the summary is written online. Dictating prompts keeps working offline.
Is it on the Free plan?
Yes, agent read-back is on every plan. Natural voices use your plan’s hours, then the standard voice takes over.
Can my team hear each other’s agents?
Yes. With a team, you can follow teammates’ coding agents and hear when they finish.
Nothing listens
until you hold fn.
Hold it. That’s the only way the mic turns on.
- The microphone opens only while you talk or record a meeting.
- Your history stays on your Mac.
- What you send to be read aloud isn’t kept.
Free to start. Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later.
